Thank you, Ruth, for entertaining children and adults alike with your heartwarming stories and charming illustrations! I am also grateful to Storytime Standouts for profiling Ruth Ohi and giving us a glimpse of the person who has created these story gems. I have shared several of Ruth’s stories with my students and used them to inspire my own students to write . . . not an easy task as many of my students are reluctant writers. I look forward to reading Fox and Squirrel Make A Friend with my class and launching conversations about friendship. As Ralph Waldo Emerson stated, “The only way to have a friend is to be one.” Ruth Ohi’s Fox and Squirrel characters bring this adage to life.
